Red warning: The 6th Great Extinction is happening much faster than all forecasts, entirely human error 4

Extinction is a clear decline in the richness and diversity of large living species. This phenomenon occurs when the rate of extinction increases faster than the rate of species formation.

During most mass extinctions, about 70-95% of the plant, animal and microbial species that once existed on the planet disappeared.

The 6th Great Extinction is happening much faster than predicted

For many years, scientists have continuously warned that we are in the middle of the Earth’s 6th mass extinction.

More alarming, the speed at which the 6th mass extinction on Earth is occurring is much faster than all predictions, at least in recent decades, according to the latest research published in the scientific journal

Professor Gerardo Ceballos González, one of the study’s authors, said about 173 species disappeared in just over a decade, from 2001 to 2014.

`There have been 173 species that have become extinct. The rate of extinction is 25 times faster than normal natural evolutionary conditions. If calculated in the past 100 years, more than 400 species of vertebrates have disappeared,

`This is completely our  fault,` Professor Gerardo emphasized.

In particular, this process is happening faster and stronger as the oceans are constantly warming, deforestation and climate change are causing the diversity of vegetation to be seriously damaged, as well as

Red warning: The 6th Great Extinction is happening much faster than all forecasts, entirely human error

According to estimates by scientists, 1 million out of 8 million animal and plant species in the world are facing the risk of extinction.

Since the formation of primitive civilizations until now, humans have significantly changed the living environment on Earth.

More worryingly, the disappearance of some plants and animals will create a `domino effect of extinction`.
